Myron Manternach, (B.Sc., MBA), Chairman

Myron has over 20 years of experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and investment management. Myron worked as an investment banker at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and as an analyst and manager of institutional investment funds with extensive experience in natural resources and emerging markets debt and equity. Most recently he was Executive Vice President, Finance and Corporate Development at Lithium Americas Corp., and Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager of Ambac Assurance Corp., a subsidiary of Ambac Financial Group. He is chairman of Nickel Creek Platinum Corp. and was previously a director of Lithium Americas Corp. prior to its merger with Western Lithium.

Myron holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with distinction from Iowa State University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.


Diane R. Garrett, (Ph.D.), Director / President & CEO

Diane R. Garrett has more than 20 years of senior management and financial expertise in the field of natural resources. Most recently she held the position of President and CEO of Romarco Minerals Inc., taking the multi-million ounce Haile Gold Mine project from discovery to construction. Prior to that, she held numerous senior positions in public mining companies including; Vice President, Corporate Development of Dayton Mining Corporation, Vice President Corporate Development of Beartooth Platinum Corporation. Earlier in her career Dr. Garrett was the Senior Mining Analyst and Portfolio Manager in the precious metals sector with US Global Investors.

Dr. Garrett is also Chairman of the Board of Revival Gold, a North American growth-focused gold exploration and development company; and a Director of NOVAGOLD RESOURCES INC., which in equal partnership with Barrick Gold U.S. Inc. is advancing the Donlin Gold project – one of the largest, highest-grade open pit gold deposits in the world.

Dr. Garrett holds a PhD in Engineering in addition to a Master of Arts in Mineral Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.


Mike Sylvestre, (M.Sc., P.Eng.), Director

Mr. Sylvestre brings over 30 years of mining sector management, operations, technical and project experience to Nickel Creek Platinum Corp. Mr. Sylvestre is currently the Regional VP Africa Kinross Gold Corp., prior to which he served as a Director and Interim CEO of Claude Resources. Mr. Sylvestre spent a significant portion of his career with Inco Ltd. where he held key senior management positions domestically and internationally. Most notably, he held the position of CEO ValeInco New Caledonia, President ValeInco Manitoba Operations, and Vice President of Operations PT Inco, Indonesia.

Mr. Sylvestre holds a M.Sc. and a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from McGill University and Queen’s University, respectively. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) in partnership with the Rotman School of Management.


Michele S. Darling, Director

Michele S. Darling has over thirty years of global business experience with particular expertise in Human Resources Management and Corporate Governance. Prior to establishing her management consulting practice, Michele Darling and Associates Inc., Ms. Darling was the Executive Vice President, Corporate Governance with Prudential Financial, Inc. from 1996 to 2002. She played a very significant role in the transformation of Prudential Financial from a mutual company into a public company, and was honoured as Human Resources Executive of the Year in 2000.

From 1991 to 1996, she was the Executive Vice President, Human Resources at CIBC. A former Director at Osisko Mining Corp., Ms. Darling is currently on the Board of Hewitt Equipment Limited, The Denihan Hospitality Group (New York) and Trillium Health Partners. Ms. Darling is a certified Human Resources Professional, and a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) in partnership with the Rotman School of Management, holding a B.A. (Honours) from the University of Sydney and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Toronto.


Wayne Kirk, LL.B., Director

Wayne Kirk has over 35 years of experience as a corporate attorney, including nine years’ experience as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Homestake Mining Company, and over 10 years of experience as a director of publicly held companies. Mr. Kirk is currently a director and Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee of Gabriel Resources Ltd. (TSX), a director and Chairman of the Corporate Governance and Nominating and Compensation Committee of Electrum Ltd., a privately-held gold exploration company, and a director and Chairman of the Compensation and Nominating Committee of Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining Corporation, a privately held silver exploration and development company. Mr. Kirk holds a law degree from Harvard University and has been a member of the California Bar since 1969.


Mark Fields, P.Geo., B.Comm. (Hon) , Director

Mark Fields has 30 years of experience in the mineral exploration and development sector. Mr. Fields currently operates his consulting practice and acts as a director of two public companies. Previously he was been a senior executive with a number of junior mineral companies, receiving the E.A. Scholz Award for excellence in mine development for his role in bringing the Willow Creek metallurgical coal mine into commercial production. Earlier in his career he was involved in the acquisition and development of the Diavik diamond mine for the Rio Tinto Group. Mr. Fields holds a B.Sc. in Geology from the University of British Columbia and a B.Comm., (Honours) from Queen’s University. He is an accredited P.Geo, with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.


Gillyeard “Gil” Leathley, Director

Mr. Gillyeard Leathley joined Nickel Creek Platinum's Board of Directors in September 2016.

Mr. Leathley has over 55 years of experience in the mining industry, ranging from Engineer to Chief Operating Officer, and has been involved in all aspects of mine construction and operations as well as the evaluation of exploration properties and potential acquisitions. Mr. Leathley oversaw the development of six major operating mines on behalf of Noranda Mining, Corona Resources and Homestake Mining. Mr. Leathley trained as a mine surveyor and industrial engineer with the Scottish National Coal Board, working in coal, bauxite, gold and copper mines. Mr. Leathley retired as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Office of Homestake in 2000, and served as a Director of NOVAGOLD prior to his departure in July 2018.
